Andris Vilcans was born in Riga, Latvia. He started as a conductor and a singer in the Latvian professional choirs, however his principal work was composition. In his music career he has composed a multitude of different works - starting with ad spots, TV and radio commercials, music for TV documentaries, industrial music, theatre plays and the latest - modern dance ballet "Alice" in Latvian National Opera. The largest part of his music is composed for theatre - seven plays in "Daile" Theatre of Latvia and rock-opera "Faust Deus Ex Machina" and several CD releases in Latvia.

Andris is currently living is San Diego, California.
